Whoa

So we lost the hamster yesterday. OMG, I couldn't believe it. I was beside myself. She was in her ball running around while I was out in the TV room on my laptop. Chris was talking with a friend of his. The kids were still at daycare. I had to take off a few hours early, I had a lot of time from my Denver trip, so took off a few early to get some bills paid, etc. I thought it would be nice to let her get exercise. She has gotten big and we can't let her out with Skylar, the Godzilla baby. Skylar loves her and will take the ball, pick it up, then drop it and kick it like a soccer ball. Not kidding. She has done this several times. We try over and over and that poor Hamster has taken a beating from that kid. We have just not let her out when Skylar is running around. I had her out in her ball for about an hour when I went to run upstairs for something. The ball was there, with the top off and no hamster. O. M. G. I yelled for Chris....we searched and search. No Baby (that is her given name from Blair). Baby was hiding and NOT coming out.

Last night we went to bed. Me in a state of shock and fury as I was in complete breakdown stress out mode from multiple hits of stressfulness in ALL AREAS of my life. ALL OF THEM. I have a family member that has a HORRIBLE disease and things are bad, my work is ramping up and things are coming in late, problems are piling up (Its all good, just a lot of work). I thought I initially had to go to Denver for a full week on the 12th. Thank GOD that got pushed to January. Wasn't sure I'd be able to handle that with everything else. The loss of Godiva has hit me hard. Harder than most would probably take the loss of an animal. But, he taught me how to be a Mama in so many ways. I love that puppy dog with my whole being.

I went to bed and fell asleep FAST. The stress was just too high and I was exhausted. Skylar woke up screaming at 3am. Very unlike her. She sleeps 715pm-7am usually like clockwork. I think she is getting her sharp canines (which ones are those?). That is all she has left for teeth to come in besides her 2 year old molars. The only time she has every woken up like this was for teething. So, Chris did come in and said 'Baby is BACK'. I was like 'What?! Huh?!' then we were in baby mode. So, we took care of Skylar and Chris did most of it. He ended up on the couch downstairs, in the 'L' portion with Skylar in the corner, knocked out. Poor baby and Daddy. They will both be very tired.

Chris told me this morning that he heard Baby come back about 130am. He went to check her and she had already taken all the food I left out for her (with the front door of her cage open) up to her condo area and was quickly putting a huge plug of bedding down the tunnel so she couldn't get out! She was locking herself in her condo and NEVER COMING OUT! I think her taste of freedom must have freaked her out. She does have it pretty good in there.

WHAT?! Baby went missing, then came home on her own??? That's crazy! I've never heard of that happening. Yes, it must have been traumatizing. So glad she came back!!
